Cool Commercial

So since we have been sitting in the hospital for the past two days I have been watching a lot of Discovery Channel and they play this commercial all the time. I just think it's cool.

TARGET SUCKS!!!

So target used to be a great place to shop.

A while back they changed their return policy and that lowered their greatness factor. They did have it that if something was given to you that was on your gift registry they would take it back for store credit within that depertment. They of course thought that was giving the consumer too much power and decided to change it.

Now their policy is that if you don't have the receipt and it costs over $20 then too bad you are stuck with it. This makes perfect sense to them because then people can't return those more expensive items that they changed their mind on and then are forced to buy other things they really wanted for more of their hard earned money.

We were told that if you were given it as a gift then you can ask the person for the gift receipt and then they can take it back. This again makes perfect sense. This is how it would play out.

Me: "Hey Suzie, remember that present you gave me that you were so excited about me gettting?"
Suzie: "Yeah I loved that thing don't you just love it?"
Me: "Well actually Suzie, I hated it and thought it was the worst gift that someone could possibly get. Oh by the way could I get the gift receipt for the worst store ever so I can return it and get something I really like?'
Suzie: "You don't like my gift?" "I hate you"

In this scenario Suzie is also a borderline, who probably would have said I hate you anyway but you get the picture.

So Target not only is a greedy corporation who wants you to spend even more money at their store, but they also don't want you to have any friends either. Who is going to ask their friends for a gift receipt, seriously people.

So back to real life and this is how our story played out that brings up this rant.

Sarah had a couple baby showers and of course because Targets baby registry is perfect and keeps you from getting duplicate items, we got a few of the same item. So we go to take one back and don't have a gift receipt for it. We figure so we get store credit and have to go buy baby stuff anyway so we may as well buy it here. We are told that they can no longer return anything without a receipt if it is over $20. WHAT???? I am pretty sure I started yelling at the young girl behind the counter, who actually agreed and told us that it is stupid. They gave us the customer relations number to call and complain. So we returned something else that we actually had a receipt for (luckily) and then told them we are never coming back. We walked out the door got in the car and I told Sarah "Let's just go to Wal-Mart and return it there." So we call the customer relations number and OF COURSE it goes to FREAKING INDIA, as if customer service people weren't annoying enough but now we can't understand them and they can't do anything about anything cause they are in FREAKING INDIA!!! So I get this guy on the phone and tell him that their new return policy SUCKS and then he proceeds to tell me that they havn't changed their policy since 2001. WHAT???? I promptly stopped him midsentence and told him that it has changed at least twice since then. I told him about the changes to policy we had to deal with after the wedding (which if I had a blog then would have gotten up there, why didn't I learn back then?) and then now it has changed again. He then said oh yeah if you had registered before this date (sometime in august 2007) you would have been fine. So I then tell him "look you have just lost a Target customer and created an extremely loyal Wal-Mart customer. I just left Target 2 minutes ago and I am now walking through the parking lot into Wal-Mart to do my shopping there. I will NEVER shop at Target again until that ASSININE policy is change." He of course told me that he will forward my comments up to management and thanked me for my input.

So now I am a loyal Wal-Mart customer and I urge everyone else to do the same.
